Folks, I want to speak to you from the heart as I do here at Born Again Christians. We simply teach the Bible, chapter by chapter, verse by verse, and let the Holy Spirit speak through His Word.
I’m a simple man who loves the Lord Jesus Christ, and I believe we are living in the last days as we see the signs all around us.
The Algeria Mosque Visit and Interfaith Gestures
Just recently, a few days ago, Pope Leo XIV visited Algeria and went into the Great Mosque of Algiers. He took off his shoes, stood there in that sacred space, and even signed the Book of Honour. He spoke about Christians and Muslims living together in peace and building bridges of fraternity.
Now, I have to tell you, when I read that, it troubled my spirit. The Bible is so clear. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). That’s not just one opinion among many. That’s the exclusive claim of the Son of God.
Islam does not believe that Jesus is the divine Son who died on the cross for our sins who rose again the third day. How can we call a mosque a sacred space for prayer and dialogue when it totally denies the very pure heart of the Gospel? The Apostle Paul warned us, “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers” (2 Corinthians 6:14). This kind of interfaith gesture looks to many of us like the beginning of the false unity we see described in the Book of Revelation, that great harlot system that rides the beast and seeks to bring all religions together under one umbrella.
Silence or Muted Response on Persecuted Christians
If you search for a website called “Open Doors World Watch List for 2026”. It shows the countries where our brothers and sisters in Christ are suffering the most extreme persecution. Many of these places are driven by radical Muslim groups or strict Islamic law:
- Somalia is ranked #2, al-Shabaab hunts down Christians and kills those who convert from Islam.
- Yemen is #3, converts face torture and death.
- Nigeria sits at #7, Boko Haram, ISWAP, and Fulani militants have been slaughtering Christians for years.
- Pakistan, Libya, and Iran round out the top ten, with blasphemy laws, house church raids, and imprisonment for simply believing in Jesus.
Over Easter weekend 2026, radical militants stormed Christian villages and churches in Nigeria and butchered dozens of men, women, and children while they were celebrating the Resurrection of our Lord. Thousands have been killed in recent years.
Pope Leo XIV has said he feels sorrow for the violence in Nigeria and has offered prayers for the victims of terrorism.
But many of us notice that the statements are often general. They talk about protecting “all communities” without strongly and repeatedly calling out the radical Islamist forces that are specifically targeting Christians.
In other high-persecution countries like Somalia, Yemen, and Iran, we haven’t heard the strong, clear voice we would expect from a shepherd defending the flock.
At the same time, there have been quicker and sharper words directed at political leaders like President Trump when he confronts these very threats. Folks, that troubles me. The Bible tells us to remember those in bonds as bound with them (Hebrews 13:3). When our brothers and sisters are being slaughtered for the name of Jesus, we should be crying out on their behalf.
The Painful Issue of Clergy Abuse
Another heartbreaking thing we have seen over the years is the terrible scandal of child sexual abuse by some priests in the Catholic Church. In the United States, the John Jay Report showed credible allegations against about 4% of priests over several decades, with thousands of victims. The pattern that grieved so many was that when a priest was caught, he was often moved to another parish instead of being turned over to the police and removed from ministry.
In Nigeria, we don’t have the same big public reports, but there is a strong culture of silence. Victims are often afraid or ashamed to speak out.
My heart breaks for every little one who has been hurt. Jesus spoke very strongly about this. He said, “But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck…” (Matthew 18:6). A true shepherd protects the sheep, he doesn’t protect the institution at the expense of the lambs.
Born Again Christians Teaching on End-Times and Apostasy
Here at Born Again Christians, we have always taught the Bible literally where it is literal. We believe in a pre-tribulation rapture of the Church, and we see many signs that we are nearing the end of the age.
The New Testament warns us about increasing apostasy, of a falling away from the faith (2 Thessalonians 2:3). Jesus Himself warned us to 'Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves' (Matthew 7:15). Paul also spoke about the spirit of antichrist already at work in the world, and the Apostle John described a coming one-world religious system in Revelation 17, something that will try to bring a false peace while putting real pressure on true believers who won't compromise.
When we see religious leaders emphasising shared “sacred spaces” with those who deny that Jesus is the only way, while the persecuted Church suffers in relative silence, it looks to many of us like the very deception the Bible warned us about. These are the sniffles the early signs, of the end-times scenario.
Jesus said, “When ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors” (Matthew 24:33). We are not to be afraid, but we are to be awake and ready.
A Call to Biblical Faithfulness
Let me say this clearly, as I always try to teach: I am not attacking every individual Catholic who truly loves the Lord Jesus. There are born-again believers in many different groups. But we are called to test everything by the Word of God. “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21).
The true Church is not a building or a denomination; it is the body of all who have trusted in Christ alone for salvation. Our hope is not in any pope or president.
Our hope is in the soon return of our wonderful Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
In these last days, let’s do what the early Church did:
- Pray earnestly for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Nigeria, Iran, Somalia, and all the places on the Open Doors list.
- Support faithful ministries that get the Word of God and practical help to them without compromise.
- Stay rooted in the simple teaching of the Bible, preach Christ crucified and risen again.
- Keep looking up, for our redemption draws near.
Even so, come, Lord Jesus (Revelation 22:20).
