Yom HaShoah - Holocaust Remembrance and Heroism Day
Remembering the Past, Looking to God’s Faithful Future
Well, today, Tuesday the 14th of April, is Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance and Heroism Day in Israel. It began at sundown yesterday and continues until nightfall tonight.
Folks, let us open our Bibles and turn to the Book of Esther. Today is March 3rd, and right now the Jewish people are celebrating Purim. This joyful feast began at sunset yesterday and continues through today. Purim comes straight from the pages of Scripture, it's the commemoration of God's deliverance of His people from destruction in the days of ancient Persia.
Well, good morning, or good evening, wherever you are reading this from. Let's open our hearts to the Word of God tonight, because there's something stirring in my spirit about this whole business with Israel.
Folks, as we pause on this International Holocaust Remembrance Day, January 27, marking the liberation of Auschwitz in 1945, our hearts turn to one of the darkest chapters in human history. The Shoah, the Holocaust, saw six million Jewish people, God's chosen nation, systematically murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators between 1941 and 1945. Two-thirds of Europe's Jews were wiped out in gas chambers, mass shootings, starvation, and forced labour. It was evil unleashed, hatred against the people through whom the Messiah came (Romans 9:4-5).
